*The exhibitions at the Huiwen Pavilion consists of “Chinese Characters and Folklore,” “Illustrious Garden of Writing,” and “Trove of Lexicons and Dictionaries.”

Bowen Pavilion (Admission Fee Required)

The exhibitions at the Bowen Pavilion include a digital experience of the “The World of Chinese Characters” exhibition, a thematic exhibition of "Inheriting Chinese Culture and Family Tradition," and others.

There are two entrances and exits to the parking lot, located beside the south gate and the east gate of the National Museum of Chinese Writing on Renmin Avenue.

The permanent exhibition of the National Museum of Chinese Writing is set against the backdrop of world scripts, with Chinese characters as its core and minority ethnic characters as an important component. It gathers the essence of Chinese characters samples from various dynasties, explaining their structural characteristics and evolution process. The exhibition fully showcases the continuous lineage of Chinese characters, the rich culture, and splendid civilization through detailed materials, rigorous layout, scientific methods, and modern display techniques. At the same time, it reflects the research achievements of Chinese civilization and Chinese language and script, carrying a dual mission of popularization and academic rigor.
Notice for Visitors
Please read the guidelines carefully

I. Opening Hours: The museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with final admission stopping at 4:30 PM. For holidays, other significant events, or special circumstances, the visiting hours will be announced in advance.

 

II. Our museum offers free access to regular exhibitions. Visitors must make a reservation for entry on the day of their visit.

 

III. Groups of more than 50 people are required to book a guided tour one working day in advance. Thank you for your support and cooperation. (For guide consultation and service, please call: 0372-2266035)

 

IV. To ensure the quality of our visitors’ experiences and per the “National Cultural Heritage Administration’s Guidelines on Improving Museum Guide Services”, our museum temporarily does not allow non-staff individuals to conduct tours. In case of special circumstances, please report one week in advance. (For reporting, please call: 0372-2266035)

 

V. To ensure the safety of cultural relics and to create a civilized visiting environment, please adhere to the following rules:

1. Visitors who are intoxicated, mentally disturbed, or improperly dressed will be refused entry.

2. The elderly, disabled, and young children must be accompanied by proper guardians, e.g., relatives or friends during their visit.

3. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the museum, and pets are not allowed to enter.

4. Visitors should not carry their luggage inside; free storage is provided. Please carry your valuable items with you.

Video recording is not allowed in the exhibition halls. Photography is allowed without the use of flash. Please maintain a quiet environment.

6. Security checks are mandatory. Bringing flammable, explosive, or controlled items into the museum is strictly forbidden.

7. Please care for public facilities; do not touch the exhibits, climb, or lie down on them.

8. Please keep the environment clean, do not bring food into the venue or litter.

9. Maintain orderly conduct during your visit; follow the on-site tour guide and instructions of the museum staff.


VI. In the event of major or temporary activities organized by the museum, visitors should follow the institution’s arrangements.

 

VII. The final interpretation rights of this Notice for Visitors belong to the National Museum of Chinese Writing.
